AC Milan were embarrassed by Sassuolo in a 5-2 loss at San Siro on Sunday, losing their fourth game in five matches and ramping up the pressure on manager Stefano Pioli. The match was marred by 11 yellow cards shown, seven to the Rossoneri and four to the visitors.
It didn’t take long for Sassuolo to break through Milan’s defense. In the seventh minute, Filip Djuricic latched onto an impeccable ball from Domenico Berardi before placing it past Gianluigi Donnarumma for 1-0. Milan responded almost immediately thanks to a powerful strike from Ismaël Bennacer that flew into the top corner of Andrea Consigli’s net just three minutes later.
Sassuolo then struck again in the 20th minute as Berardi sent a beautiful cross into Francesco Caputo who headed it home for 2-1. This time there was no reply from Milan and they went into the break two goals behind.

Kryzstof Piatek nearly brought Milan level at the beginning of the second half when he got to a loose ball inside the area only to fire his shot wide of goal. It would prove costly as Sassuolo scored again moments later with Gregoire Defrel tapping in an excellent cross from Giangiacomo Magnani in at 3-1. That goal sparked an angry reaction from Pioli who believed his players were not playing with enough intensity or focus.
The tension around San Siro continued to increase as Sassuolo kept pushing forward while Piatek failed with another chance on goal after being set up superbly by Hakan Calhanoglu in front of goal yet still managing to shoot wide once more. Eventually, Berardi put the game beyond doubt with two goals late on – one from outside of box and other from penalty spot – to earn himself hattrick and complete humiliation for AC Milan at San Siro as he put Sassuolo five goals ahead in what was an unforgettable night for them and nightmare for Rossoneri supporters at stadium who could not believe what they saw happening right before them wearing their beloved AC Milan jersey only once during whole match .
With this heavy defeat, AC Milan now finds themselves out of top 4 positions and will have serious troubles making back into Champions League spots this season if they don’t start performing better soon, as pressure mounts on manager Stefano Pioli who has been coaching team since October last year when replaced Marco Giampaolo, although he has managed some victories against top teams lately like Lazio or Torino, but if Serie A title is too much for them this season then Europa League place might be only realistic target now for Rossoneri if they want season not to be considered total failure after such turbulent few months .
